Our poor Etsy shop has been seriously neglected for the past year. But no more!
We’re so excited to announce that we are now offering new products featuring our own custom designs! Cue the marching bands and confetti.
Starting today, we’re offering totes and coffee mugs featuring original designs by us. The latte mugs and canvas totes are the first two new products we’ll be selling with more to come in the months ahead. We have tons of ideas for new designs. We’ll be choosing what other products would be a good fit for us and our designs.
Here are a few of the new products available today.
Why We Decided to use a Drop Shipper
If you’ve ever visited our Etsy store, you may have noticed that we were only offering digital products like printables and printable art. But we originally had physical products for sale. We tried to sell painted mason jars and deco mesh wreaths at first. But I didn’t have enough time to dedicate to promoting the shop or products. And Alex had a newborn so she definitely didn’t have time. The shop sort of languished, not getting a lot of traffic and only one sale of a digital product.
This past summer I decided to remove all the listings for physical products. I just left the digital products since that’s passive. A buyer can download their purchase after payment has been verified, with no intervention needed from me.
I always intended to revisit the idea of physical products in the future. Like, in the way, way future. But right before Christmas, I ran across a blog post about drop-shipping. I did a little research and realized this was the answer I’d been looking for!
Drop-shipping is the easiest way to get your custom designed products into the hands of your customers. You’re responsible for creating the design but the production partner actually puts your design on the product. And then ships it out for you!
I’m thinking of this as an experiment
Since this is our first time working with a drop-shipper, we really don’t have a baseline to compare it to. I’ll be curious to see if we have any better luck this time around. At least I have a marketing plan this time! Already that’s an improvement.
But part of our blog goals for this year was to find new ways to monetize the site. Enhancing a shop that already existed seemed like an easy way to start. And with drop-shipping, there’s no inventory to maintain so the risk is lower.
I know that some of you are in the same boat as we are, trying to find ways to make money from your blog. I’ll post an update in at the beginning of March to let you know how it’s going. I’ll share what might be working and what didn’t work. I’m really excited about the potential!
Sign up for our mailing list if you’d like to be notified when that update post is published. There’s a form in the sidebar somewhere over there. —–>
