You can tell it’s almost fall because my Pinterest feed is filling up with fall decor featuring pumpkins and leaves. I’m not complaining! Fall is a favorite of mine but we’ve had such a great summer here at the homestead I think it’s a little bittersweet for me this year.
But not Alex. She loves everything pumpkin and is ready for fall. I swear that girl would knock me down and step on my back to get to a pumpkin spice latte. When Alex was growing up we really enjoyed all the fall activities – fall festivals, bonfires, carving pumpkins, caramel apples, apple cider. You name it and we probably did it. Now that she’s grown with little ones of her own we’ll be doing it all over again with a new generation.
Aislynn and I already started on the front porch last week. We jumped the gun a little bit because technically it was still August but I saw mums for sale. That was enough for me. She got to plant flowers and use the hose so it was enough for her too. 😀
It’s still warm here now so I’ll probably hold off on the actual pumpkins until it starts to cool down. Although Alex and I were out shopping the other day and saw fake pumpkins that you could carve?? Weird.
Just because it’s too early for pumpkins doesn’t mean it’s too early for other decorations!

Rustic Wood Pumpkins
What a great idea for using up scrap 2×4’s! I have so many in the garage because I refuse to part with them “just in case I need them”. Bah.

I’ve seen these mason jar lid pumpkins quite a bit lately. You could paint them any color really and they’d be just as cute.

Farmhouse Pumpkin Bucket
I like the look of white pumpkins. I may have to try to incorporate that this year into my decorating scheme. This entire pumpkin bucket is so cute but that bucket is to die for!
